The Panther’s Baseball Season Comes To An End

May 30, 2014 By eastwickpress

by Steve Bradley

The HFCS baseball season came to an end last Friday. The Panthers were defeated by the Voorheesville Blackbirds 4 – 0 in a first round sectional game that was played over two days. The first inning was played Thursday with threatening weather nearby so the teams played innings two through seven on Friday.

The Blackbirds played like a much higher seed than sixth. In this game they played well in all aspects of the game. The Panthers had chances with men on base, even loading the bases in the second and fifth, but the Blackbirds always came up with something to keep the Panthers from scoring. Panther Wyatt Whitman, who allowed one earned run and pitched well enough to get a win on many days, took the loss on the mound.

The Panthers ended the season with an 8 – 9 record.
