Hoosick Falls School Budget Passes

Voters approved the proposed budget for the Hoosick Falls Central School District by a margin of 355 to 148. The Bus purchase proposition was approved by a vote of 363 to 141.
[private]Bridget Foster was the top vote-getter among the Board members running for three seats. She polled 383. John Helft received 360 votes, and so was re-elected for another three year term on the School Board. Newcomer Andy Beaty received 331 votes; he will finish the final two years of Don Skott’s term. Skott resigned from the Board last September.
BCS Budget Passes By Wide Margin

The 2014-15 Berlin Central School District budget passed on Tuesday by a wide margin with a final tally of 276 for and 84 against the $18 million dollar budget which will be funded with a .7% increase in the tax levy.
A proposition to purchase two 66 passenger school buses at an expenditure of not more than $240,000 also passed, by a vote of 272 to 86.
A proposition for a $100,000 capital project to upgrade the auditorium at the Middle School/High School passed as well with a vote of 244 for and 111 against.
Zwack And Willis Re-Elected
Finally, there were two open seats on the Board of Education this year and nobody new really wanted them. Board President Frank Zwack and Board Member Jim Willis were both re-elected to three-year terms without any opposition. Willis received 275 votes and Zwack 262.
Only 371 voters from the District’s five towns, with an estimated population of around 6,800, cast ballots.
NLCS Budget Passes Easily

Voters in the New Lebanon Central School District easily passed a $12,765,996 budget for the 2014-15 school year with 183 voting for and 44 voting against the plan. The budget increases spending by 2.61% over the current year but comes with a 0% change in the tax levy.
A proposition to spend $700,000 in renovations on the New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School roof passed 163 to 52.
A Proposition to allow the District to establish a new capital reserve fund of up to $3,000,000 to be used to fund capital improvements to the facilities of the District passed as well with 162 for and 49 against.
Finally, Board of Education members Christine Sotek and Michael Bienes were both re-elected in an unopposed race, with Sotek receiving 170 votes and Bienes receiving 167. Two write-in votes were received by Scott Putnam.[/private]
