Facin and the other award recipients will be honored during the Champion of Character banquet on Wednesday, April 9, at the Franklin Plaza in Troy.
“While it is an honor to be recognized by the Academy for Character Education, this award truly belongs to those who serve on my District’s Character Education Committee for helping to create and maintain a positive and caring school culture,” Facin said. “The educators and staff in our schools also deserve credit for encouraging and supporting the community’s children by instilling such values as respect, responsibility, honesty, tolerance and community service.”
The Academy, founded in 2000, partners with youth, schools and the greater community to promote character development through its comprehensive education programs that facilitate the infusion of positive character traits including respect for self and others, civility, responsibility, caring, trustworthiness, self-discipline, curiosity, strong work ethic, striving for excellence and good citizenship.[/private]
