Two Truck Accidents In One Week On Route 7

March 14, 2014 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson

A ride along Route 7 in Hoosick on Wednesday morning, March 12, confirmed that guardrails are down in four places along the north side of Route 7, the westbound lane, between Tibbitts Forest and the Man of Kent Restaurant. Prominent orange and white barrels mark the areas where the rails should be standing.

[private]On Friday, March 7, the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 6:29 am for a three vehicle accident on Route 7. A newspaper delivery van driven by Fred Scace of Hancock, MA, traveling east on Route 7 crossed over the double yellow line into an 18 wheel flatbed truck. Scace was flown to Albany Medical Center Hospital by helicopter in critical condition. The drivers of the other two vehicles were transported to the hospital by ambulances. According to the Sheriff’s Department, the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Markings on the roadway and debris along the shoulder remain as reminders of the crash.
