February 14, 2014 By eastwickpress

by Steve Bradley

Last Thursday, in a game postponed by Wednesday’s snow storm, the Lady Panthers played the Stillwater Warriors in the Panther Den. The Panthers got off to a slow start and trailed at the end of the first quarter 14 – 11. In the second quarter, the Panthers clamped down on defense, holding the Warriors to eight points and gaining a seven point lead at the half. It was a lead the Warriors could not overcome the rest of the game.

Stillwater’s Abby Higgins did everything she could to keep the Warriors in the game, scoring 27 points. With just over five minutes left in the game the Warriors came within five, but it wasn’t enough as the Panthers came away with a 58 – 49 win.

Carsen Williams had a nice game as she consistently went inside to score 20 points, scoring eight two-point baskets and going 4 – 6 at the foul line. Kelly Pine added 17, and Rachel Pine chipped in 12.

Friday the team traveled to Schaghticoke to play Hoosic Valley. With the score close through most of the game, the Ladies fell by one, 41 – 40.

Kelly Pine scored 18 points. Rachel Pine added 10.

Monday evening the team made the trip up to Glens Falls. The Glens Falls Indians prevailed by a 54 – 47 score. Olivia Schneider scored 13 points, and Rachel Pine and Carsen Williams each chipped in 11. Skylar Girard dropped in 27 points for Glens Falls.

Hoosick Falls concluded its regular season with a 11 – 6 overall record and a 9 – 5 record in league play.
