The Hoosick Falls bowling team won the Adirondack League Bowling Tournament on Tuesday, February 4, at Broadway Lanes in Fort Edward. Hoosick Falls totaled 6,111 pins for six games with a best of five bowlers’ scores out of seven bowling each game format. Fort Edward finished second with a score of 5,975, Schuylerville finished third with a score of 5,962 followed by Hoosic Valley 5,652, Stillwater 5,392, Corinth 4,866, Hadley-Luzerne 4,505, Lake George 4,409, Whitehall 4,111, Granville 3,971 and North Warren 3,864.
Hoosick Falls got off to a slow start finishing in third place after the morning session trailing Fort Edward by 137 pins and Schuylerville by 17 pins. Hoosick Falls saved its best games for the afternoon session by posting its best game totals of the day with a 1,034, 1,051 and 1,072 for a great afternoon total of 3,157, which gave them the title, beating Fort Edward by 36 pins to claim the championship.
The six game totals for Hoosick Falls were Josh McCart 1,282, Stephen Surdam 1,231, Ken Marbot 1,214, Kyla Day 1,137, Jennifer Sargood 1,131, A.J. Hurlburt 1,061 and Jonathan Bossoni 1,091. High game and triples for the day were Stephen Surdam 244-694, Josh McCart 248-659, Ken Marbot 217-615, Kyla Day 195-576, Jennifer Sargood 204-572, Jonathan Bossoni 192-571 and A.J. Hurlburt 232-563.
Next, the team has the Adirondack League Championship Match against Fort Edward on Thursday for the overall league title. “This was a great come from behind win for our team. They never gave up and kept getting better in the afternoon session. The experience that they had during the regular season helped them come from behind during this tournament. It was a great team effort!” said Coach Lang.
