The Rutland train crossing the trestle across the Steinkill and Center Street in Chatham. The abutment of the trestle is about the only recognizable Rutland Railroad structure left in Chatham. World renowned railroad photographer/author Jim Shaughnessy and railroad documentary producer James R. “Jim” Jones are featured guests at Historic Chatham’s Rutland Railroad Day on Saturday, September 21, between 1 and 5 pm. The Rutland Railroad’s famous “Corkscrew” Chatham Subdivision was physically abandoned sixty years ago this summer. Shaughnessy will provide first hand accounts, and offer signed copies of his books for sale. Photo from Historic Chatham's Mickle Collection, courtesy of Steve Oberon, President of Historic Chatham.
