BCS 2013 National Honor Society And Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony

On Monday evening, May 13, the Berlin Central School District recognized its current student members of the Taconic Valley National Honor Society/Junior Society and celebrated the new students being inducted into the Honor Society/Junior Society.
[private]The objective of the Honor Society/Junior Society is to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to promote working leadership, to stimulate a desire to offer service and to encourage the development of character in students of the Berlin Central School District. Advisors for this valuable acknowledgement are Karen Day and Stephanie Hover.
To be eligible for National Honor Society a student must be in grade ten, eleven or twelve and must have maintained a cumulative grade average of 85%. To be eligible for National Junior Honor Society a student must be in grade seven or eight and have maintained a cumulative grade average of 90%. Also, all students must have demonstrated a degree of involvement in their school and/or communities, have exemplified a degree of responsibility and determination, and want to do the “right thing” in all situations.

Taconic Valley National Honor Society/Junior Society Chapter Service Activities
The 2012-2013 Taconic Valley National Honor Society/Junior Society Chapter service activities were highlighted following the individual presentations. The activities included a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Washington Park, a Journey Through the Body at Colonie Center, a Family Feud Charity Event and assisting with the upcoming “Imagination Celebration” at the Berlin Elementary School. The momentous evening concluded in a reception filled with congratulatory desserts and drinks.[/private]
