Last Saturday, on a gorgeous spring afternoon, students from Hoosick Falls Central School gathered in groups in backyards all around town. It was Junior Prom night. The students were dressed like no other evening of the year. The girls were beautiful in gowns of every color, and the boys were dapper in their gown-matching tuxedoes and vests. Mothers fussed with their daughter’s hair and flowers. Mothers fussed with their son’s hair and handkerchief squares. Fathers proudly watched from the sidelines, some in mild shock as their little girl suddenly looked like a woman. Hundreds of pictures were snapped, at least 20 of every imaginable pose. So many cameras were directed at the kids they didn’t know which way to look. Everyone enjoyed every minute of it.

The groups then migrated to the school. There were more quick photos, this time with Gramma and Grampa, cousins, friends and schoolmates. Eventually, the large pool of people inside and outside the lobby poured into the auditorium.
When all were seated, the class advisors, Mrs. Amy Sutton and Mrs. Linda Bird, began by thanking everyone who had made the day possible. ADAPT was thanked for all the hard work they contribute by putting everything together and raising funds. These funds are used to provide the prom-goers with things to do after the prom.
Hosts and Hostesses were introduced first. The Hostesses were Ailish Paulin, Anna Wysocki, Jackie Holbritter and Keelan Seifert. The Hosts were Wyatt Cushman, Remington Hickey, Jeremy St. Onge, Kellan Skott and Riley Bacon. Keeping what is becoming a HFCS Prom Host and Hostesses tradition, a Host or Hostess fainted during the Grand March. This has happened three of the last five years.
The Grand March began and couples were introduced. Each couple came down the aisle, up the stairs and across the stage to meet in the center. All the couples looked fantastic.
After the last couple was introduced, the class officers were introduced. Louis Weierbach, Mattie Whitman, Samantha Lancour, Carsen Williams, Mollie Henry and Reilly Holbritter are the officers. Mrs. Sutton and Mrs. Bird were thanked by the officers as being the best advisors ever.

Prince Tyler Peabody and Princess Kai Jones were introduced as Royalty. Along with them was last year’s queen, Julia Baker, and her date, John-Curtis Whitman, and last year’s king, Chris Lacroix and his date, Grace Delurey.
It was now time for the Prom Court to be announced. Troy Costantino, Justin Lynch, Levi Brewster (there was a slight delay as Levi wrestled his way into his sash), Tyler Rondeau and Drew Phillips were the boys of the court. Claire Seifert, Mollie Henry, Reilly Holbritter, Hannah Lilac and Mattie Whitman were the girls.
Then the moment everyone was eagerly waiting for. Who would be the King and Queen of the 2013 prom? First, Queen of the Court was introduced, and it was Mollie Henry. Levi Brewster was announced as the King.
With the school festivities now over, the students, after breathing a sigh of relief, loaded up the school buses for the short trip to the Hubbell

Homestead on West Road, near Old Bennington. After a buffet meal inside the large enclosed tent, the students danced and socialized for the evening. From Hubbell Homestead, the students returned to the school and the activities waiting for them. (Ask about the hypnotist.) Later, buses took them up to the Fun Spot in Queensbury, NY, where they rode go-karts and participated in laser tag and other fun activities. Upon returning to Hoosick Falls and home in mid-morning Sunday, students collapsed onto couches and beds, thinking back on the night’s funny and enjoyable moments.
