On February 5 the Hoosick Falls bowling team lost to Fort Edward in the championship roll off match for the Adirondack League title by just 18 pins after six bowlers each bowled three games. Fort Edward had a total pin count of 3,729, and Hoosick Falls had a total pin count of 3,711. This was a great match between Fort Edward, the Northern Division champion, and Hoosick Falls, the Southern Division champion, in which both teams had some great individual scores.
Hoosick Falls won the first game by 29 pins; Fort Edward came back and won the second game by 69 pins, and Hoosick Falls came back and won the third game by 22 pins, but this wasn’t enough to overtake total pins from Fort Edward.
The top three bowlers for Fort Edward were Brad Delisle 263-710, Nickolas Conlon 241-672 and Ian Rose 232-633. The top bowlers for Hoosick Falls were Bryan Callahan 245-701, Ken Marbot 231-652, Josh McCart 237-636, Logan Brogue 247-635, Stephen Surdam 186-522, Josh Conn 228-362 (two games) and Jennifer Sargood 203 (one game).
“This was an outstanding match between the two best teams in our league. Both teams have a lot of respect for each other, and either team could of won as the match went down to the last frame in the last game. We have gone against Fort Edward the last four years, and this was the first time they have prevailed. I was very proud of the effort and sportsmanship that our team displayed today. We will see them again at Sectionals on Monday, February 11, at Boulevard Bowl in Schenectady, starting at 9:30 am,” Coach Lang said.
