NYS Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin (R,C,I-Melrose) recently welcomed the Hoosick Falls Varsity Football and Girls Varsity Soccer teams to the Capitol to congratulate both teams on their respective Class C New York State Championship victories this past year.
[private]“These two teams have served as great role models and have rallied the community together behind a truly remarkable group of young men and women. To win a State championship is a tremendous honor reflecting years of hard work, determination and community support. The fact that Hoosick Falls claimed two State titles during the same season speaks to the strength of the School District and the surrounding community. I am truly honored to represent this community,” said McLaughlin.
The varsity football team (12-0) won its first state championship by defeating a school that had won 51 straight games while the soccer team (21-2) claimed their second consecutive State Championship.
“These young men and women have accomplished a great deal already and after meeting with them today I know this is only a harbinger of future success for these student-athletes,” said McLaughlin.
