On Monday, February 11, the Hoosick Falls bowling team won the Section II C – D title by beating a field of 25 other C – D schools in Section II. They had a six game total with five bowlers of 5,822 pins followed by Mechanicville with 5,657, Canajoharie with 5,608, Duanesburg with 5,572, Middleburgh with 5,395, Voorheesville with 5,388, Fort Edward with 5,382 and Hoosic Valley with 5,226 rounding out the top eight finishers.
Hoosick Falls was led by Ken Marbot with a high game of 252, which was the third highest game of the tournament, and a six game total of 1,317, which was the high six game series of the tournament. He was followed by Josh McCart 224-1,195, Bryan Callahan 223-1,166, Josh Conn 196-1,073, Stephen Surdam 222-747 (four games) and Logan Brogue 179-324 (two games). Josh Reveal and Jennifer Sargood were members of the team but did not bowl.
Hoosick Falls now must wait to see if their total will hold up to go to the States as a team after the A teams bowl on Tuesday and the B teams bowl on Wednesday. If either an A team or a B team beats the Panthers’ total of 5,822 then Ken Marbot must wait to see if he will qualify to bowl on the Section II section team which is made up of the top six 6 game scores not on the winning team.
“The kids bowled great on difficult lane conditions that were changing in some games from frame to frame. They made the right adjustments when needed and were very patient from game to game as the shots got tougher. I was very proud how our team bowled today after we lost a close league championship match to Fort Edward last week by just 18 pins,” said Coach Lang.
