Peter Rawson

West Lebanon – Peter Rawson, 73, of Schoolhouse Road, West Lebanon, NY, died peacefully on Friday, December 28, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 30, 1939, in Great Barrington, MA, he was the son of the late Ivan and Meta Butler Rawson. He was the loving husband of the former Angela M. Eccles, whom he married on July 16, 1966. A graduate of Pittsfield (MA) High School, Peter attended the University of Miami before enlisting in the United States Air Force in October of 1964. He was honorably discharged in 1969. Peter worked at Honeywell in Albany, NY, for many years as a technician and salesperson. After retirement, he started Rawson Realty in West Lebanon, serving the people of the Taconic Valley and Berkshires. He was a longtime member of the New Lebanon Congregational Church serving in many leadership positions. Peter was a great people person, always striking a conversation upon a handshake. He spent winters in San Diego, CA, to be with his grandchildren and loved fishing and hiking along with doing puzzles. His true love was for his family.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Angela M. Rawson, his children, Darren E. Rawson of La Jolla, CA, and Joanna L. Rawson of Brookline, MA, his grandchildren, Morgan, Delaney, Brody and Carter, his great-grandchild, Kylie, his siblings, Jack, Charlie, Bill, Don, Ivan, Judith, Art and David, and many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his siblings, Roy, Frank, Edith, Dick, Doris and Anne.
A Memorial Service will be held on January 5 at 11 am in the New Lebanon Congregational Church on the corner of Routes 20 and 22 in New Lebanon, NY. Private inurnment will take place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
