New Lebanon – David C. Squier, 82, a resident of New Lebanon, NY, since 1958, died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 22, 2012.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lore Squier, his devoted sons, William of Stamford, CT, John of Falmouth Foreside, ME, and Michael Squier of Chatham, NY, and their wives, Beth, Laurette and Rita, and his three loving grandchildren, Craig, Levi and Lauren. He also leaves his sister, Nancy Squier of Upper Montclair, NJ, his in-laws, Georg Oefelein of Moers, Germany, and Annemarie and Richard Benson of Dalton, MA, and their families.
He was a graduate of the University of Arizona and Delhi Tech. David served in the United States Army as Specialist 3rd Grade with the military police in Germany during the Korean War, where he met his wife Lore. An avid car, boat and antiques enthusiast and authority, he was also a private pilot. He loved his many German shepherds and spending time at his family’s summer home in the Adirondacks. David was a man of unique character and strong principles, who followed his own path.
He is pre-deceased by his parents, Olga Leora and Frederick C. Squier, his sister, Delores Squier, and his mother-in-law, Wilhelmina Oefelein. A private funeral service will be held for his family and friends. Arrangements are under the guidance of the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home of Stephentown.
