Burns Wins #100 As Panthers Beat Granville

January 11, 2013 By eastwickpress

by Ryan Mosher
Brad Burns recorded a third period win for the Hoosick Falls wrestling team to pick up his 100th career win, and help propel the Panthers over WASAREN League foe Granville.  Burns recorded his pin in the second match of the night, following Billy Pine’s pin in the first match.

The Panthers lost the next match before three Hoosick Falls and one Granville forfeits put the visiting Golden Horde up 24-18.  From there it was almost all Hoosick Falls as Nolan Foster, Colby Davendonis and Bryan Sherman all recorded pins.  Gregg Pirie won his match 8-2.  There were two matches that had everyone on the edges of their seats.  At 138 pounds, Mike Mattat faced off against Nathaniel Palmer.  The two wrestled evenly the whole match, with Palmer scoring one point on an escape in the second period, taking the 1-0 win.  The most dramatic match came in the final slot at 160 pounds.  Garrett Wright wrestled Brad Perry in another low scoring match.  Well, actually a no-scoring match for the first six minutes!  In overtime Wright wasted no time though, scoring a take down quickly to give the Panthers the match, and the winning score of 54-27.
