September 1, 1825, Thursday: This forenoon I rode to Lebanon after Doctor Right for Sylvester’s wife, and he cut stalks in my room while I was gone.
Sept. 2, Friday: I took the covered wagon and carried our people to the funeral of Hosea Moffitt. Mr. Shepard from Lenox preached and this evening we made a small pressing of cider.
Scpt. 5, Monday: Today Sylvester pealed and got about two dol and eighty cents apiece for us for Saturday, and today on this morning I rode over to Josiah Eggleston’s and his daughter Amanda rode my horse home and I walked. She came to work, for my wifc’s hand continues lame with the swelling on it.
Sept. 14, Wednesday: Today I took the double wagon and carried Doctor E. Graves three bushels of apples at 25 cents per, and he credits it on account. I fetched three cider barels home to fill for him. I let Edmund Cherevoy have nine bushels of apples and I carried Rensselaer Humphrey one barrel of cider, price one dollar. This afternoon I cut hoop poles and fetched home from my Rodgers farm wood and potatoes.
September 19, Monday: Today Wm and I went to Smith’s tavern to General training. We carried cider to peddle and gingerbread for J. Bull. We cleared nearly eight dollars on the cake and cider. Sylvester peddled for us to the halvcs and cleared for us 75 cents, and I Newton peddled on shares for us. He cleared for us 37 cents.
October 4, Saturday: I wagoned one load of cider of 153 gallons to H. Platt’s Store, and he credits me 75 cents per barrel. This afternoon we gathered winter and sauce apples and I sent Mr. Asa Goodrich six bushels of sauce apples at 25 cents to be paid in shoemaking.
Oct. 7, Tuesday: We husked corn and threshed rye. I gathered six bushels of apples for Wm to carry to the shoemaker Hungcrfoot, for hc is making shoes for Wm’s family. Tonight Mr Hynes that used to ride post stayed with us and tonight wc had an apple bee. Quite rainy today and tonight. On the morning brother Sylvester had a son born, but expired in a few minutes. (This was 9 months and 10 days after their stillborn baby arrived.)
