Letter To The Editor – The Accomplishments Of The Hoosick Falls Student Body

December 14, 2012 By eastwickpress

To the Editor:
Words do little to express the significance of the accomplishments of the Hoosick Falls student body. Certainly, there are heroes, champions in abundance, individually and as teams, most notably the girls soccer and football teams.  Their right to now proclaim themselves the best teams in their chosen sport throughout the ENTIRE State of New York cannot be denied. Hoosick Falls is indeed “Title Town.” You young people and your teammates, which include coaches, parents, cheerleaders and musicians, are to be congratulated and will be for many moons to come.
To the Gridiron men – you unseated a juggernaut of epic proportion!!  I watched it, was there, but still how did you do it?  You were amazing, magnificent. I hope the school can host an evening where we can fill the auditorium and watch the games again as a community.
Not all success means a State Championship. Boys soccer achieved more than ever before.  Our storied field hockey team is always in it. Bowlers, golfers, musicians, students of all kinds doing their best in school and at home all the while keeping safe and out of mischief.  What parents you must have.
As impressive as you are in the field etc, you are astounding in your demeanor, sportsmanship and support of each other. One of the most moving displays I witnessed this year was at the beginning of the girls soccer sectional championship game at Stillwater field. As it was announced that the boys soccer team had just won up north, the girls soccer team erupted into a celebration that was as if they had just won!! It was such a beautiful thing to see; it will remain with me. Then they took the field of play and man, I can tell you, they TOOK the FIELD!!
As a proud fan of our students, school and community, I would like to thank ALL of the students for their achievements.  You young people bring honor, hope and dignity to us as a community. As adults we sometimes get burdened by our daily responsibilities. You continue to show us what family, community and team is all about and how it is achieved.  I wish and pray for you to continue in your achievements with good luck,  health, good will and success in all you do.
I am sure I speak for all alumni, that we are proud of you and our school, that you have made many people you may or may never meet, very proud and very grateful.  You are the best of us.
