Panther Girls Soccer Dominates Mechanicville; State Quarterfinals Next

November 9, 2012 By eastwickpress

by Gail Delurey
The Lady Panthers dominated the Sectional Title game against Mechanicville Tuesday night scoring in 49 seconds and went on to win 6-0. Hoosick Falls will now face the winner of the Section VII/X regional playoff in the State quarterfinals on Saturday. The Panthers host the contest at Stillwater at 1:30 pm.
Haynes netted a hat trick in the first half. Allie Martin put one in the net off of a corner that was headed to her from Grace Delurey. The Panthers were up 4 to 0 at the half.  In the second half Delurey took an outside shot from the top the box to find the upper 90. Alice Hayden served up a well placed corner kick for Rachel Pine to head in. Hannah Fricke had a great performance in the goal with 9 saves. Our Panther defense and midfield played with authority as they held Mechanicville scoreless.
On the field, the Panthers function like a family. When you watch this team, you can tell that they have all been playing together since they were in micro-soccer. They communicate and watch out for each other.  Each player has her job, and they do it well. Grace Delurey had 4 assists, Alice Hayden, 1, and Mac Hinchlife, 1.
