To the people of Grafton:
After reading this week’s Eastwick Press, I feel I’m compelled to respond. First let me introduce myself. My name is Bill Middleton, and as well as being a resident of Grafton, I’m also the Democratic Chairman.
Last year we ran a campaign which included a platform of changes which we felt were in keeping with the wishes of the residents of Grafton. I believe this platform was the reason the residents of Grafton elected this board. For the first time, since I can remember, the board is not just rubber stamping the agenda. But are questioning it.
This is why they are asking for it to be posted a week ahead of the monthly meeting so that they can study it. I also think that we have good council people on our board, who regardless of party affiliation, are trying to work together to be responsible and provide the best decisions possible.
I would ask all residents to take an active interest and become involved. Don’t just listen to the gossip but learn the true facts and lets all work together to give our town the best representative government possible.
Respectfully,
Bill Middleton
Editor/Reporter’s response: It is curious that the Town Supervisor, Ray Darling, who was elected on the platform the Democratic Chairman espouses, is the very individual who is setting the agenda and also not distributing it to the other Board members. Mr. Middleton is absolutely correct when he says Board members and residents should work together for good government and to fix the problem. First, you have to acknowledge the problem.
