by Bea Peterson
The first game in Sectional play for Hoosick Falls Field Hockey was Monday evening, October 22, in Schuylerville, on artificial turf and under the lights. Number 2 seed HFCS played #7 seed Granville. It was the third time this season the two teams had met. Once again HF was the victor, this time with a 4-0 score.
Hoosick Falls scored twice in the first 15 minutes of the game, setting the pace for the game. Granville put up an outstanding defense. Hoosick Falls never let up the pressure, scoring again in the first half and adding one more in the second half.
Eighth-grader Liz Ryan had one goal and one assist. Junior and Co-Captain Carsen Williams scored a goal and freshman Caytlyn Springer had one goal in the first half and another in the second half, both with assists from Williams.
The Panthers are now 14-3 for the season. The team’s next game is against Schuylerville on Tuesday, October 30. Schuylerville, seeded #6, defeated #3 Taconic Hills on Tuesday, October 23.
