All It Took Was 20 Seconds
by Steve Bradley
Eric Kaufman’s game opening kickoff was received by a Granville player who started upfield and was hit by a Panther tackler. The ball came flying out and hit the ground where Brad Burns pounced on it. The offense took to the field, and on the Panthers first play from scrimmage, quarterback Billy Pine threw to Levi Brewster, who fought his way over the goal line. Twenty seconds after kicking off, HF = 6, Granville = stunned. Granville went on to turn the ball over three more times in the first half, negating any opportunities for scoring. The Golden Horde didn’t put any points on the board until they were 42 points behind. The final score was HF – 42, Granville – 10.
Billy Pine threw 6 for 10 with 2 TDs and no interceptions. Brad Burns ran for 152 yards on 12 carries. Wide receiver Josh Brogue had an exciting afternoon, receiving a team high 3 catches (33 yards, 1 TD), along with an interception on defense. Eric Kaufman continued to impress kicking PATs, adding 6 more to his total. He hasn’t missed one yet. Randy Tutunjian led the defense with 8 tackles, followed by sophomore Mark Hackett with 7. Senior Grady Beck also chipped in with a nice interception.
