Town Of Sand Lake Is 200 Years Old

On Saturday Westfall Village, half way between West Sand Lake and Averill Park on Rt. 43, will be the end point of the Town of Sand Lake Bicentennial parade. Beginning at 10 am at the former Sand Lake School on Rt. 43, the parade continues to Old Route 66, to Gettle Road and thence back to  Rt. 43 and Westfall Village. Following the Parade this 92 acre site will be the hub of activities on August 25 and 26 for young and old. Trolley tours, children’s games, vendors and exhibitors of all sorts, a vintage car cruise, special music,  a 3k run/walk and more will complement an interfaith service and dedication of the time capsule and announcement of raffle winners on Sunday. Look for the elegant gazebo.
•Parade starts 10 am in Sand Lake Hamlet and ends at Westfall Village
•Color Guard and remembrance for gravestone replacement for Civil War Veteran John Springsteen and remembrance for all of the Town’s  Armed Forces veterans.
•Uncle Sam Chorus  –  Our National Anthem
•12-1 pm Welcoming Remarks by Flora Fasoldt, Supervisor, Town of Sand Lake, Kathleen Jimino, Rensselaer County Executive, Martin T. Reid, Chairman, Rensselaer County Legislature and  Judy Rowe, Town Historian & Honorary Chairperson
•Music 1 to 5 pm
11 am-noon  Rural Felicity  –   Porch Stage
1-2 pm   ELVIS  –  Gazebo Stage
2-3 pm     Rural Felicity  –  Porch Stage
3-4 pm     Betsy & Steve Fry & Friends  –  Gazebo Stage
4-5 pm    King Friday  –  Porch Stage
10-5 pm Car Cruise
9 am-5 pm Vendors and Exhibitors
1-5 pm  Morgan’s Artillery, Hayrides, Horse Heaven Pony Rides, Petting Zoo, Children’s Games, Bounce House
