Laureen A. Cure

New Lebanon/Stephentown – Laureen A. Mitchell Cure, 69, (aka Nani, Sis or Birdie) of Route 22, Stephentown, NY, died suddenly at her residence on Tuesday, August 28, 2012.
Born August 21, 1943, in Pittsfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Anton and Catherine Hadsell Mitchell. Raised in Hancock, MA, she resided in New Lebanon, NY, for over 15 years and in Stephentown for the last three years. Birdie was of the Roman Catholic faith and a graduate of St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Pittsfield. After raising her family, Nani worked for the last 23 years at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield in Central Service Sterile Processing, retiring last month. She enjoyed gardening and being outside. Sis loved cooking, eating and traveling with her family. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her two children, Joseph M. and wife Roxanne Cure of Stephentown and Donna M. and husband Timothy Roden of New Lebanon, her grandchildren, Brian, Daniel and Catherine Roden and Nicole Cure and Saren Volker, and her brother, Bernard and wife Bonnie Mitchell of St. Louis, MO. She is pre-deceased by a brother, Kirk Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 1, at 2 pm in the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY 43, Stephentown, where Rev. John Close will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the family lot in the Hancock Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home for visitation on Saturday from noon until the start of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Stephentown Rescue Squad in loving memory of Laureen A. Cure.
