Ruth J. Abram, Columbia County artist, will conduct two collage workshops this summer at the New Lebanon Library. The workshops will be held on Wednesday, August 8, and Tuesday, August 21. The August 8 workshop, which is geared towards children aged five and up, will be held from 3:30 to 5 pm. The August 21 session, which is primarily for teens and adults, will be from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Both events are free and open to the public. Advanced registration is recommended by calling the Library at 518-794-8844 or emailing leb@taconic.net.
Ruth J. Abram has been doing collage in fabric and in paper since the l970s. In the last few years, her work has been the subject of two exhibits, one in Manhattan and one, more recently, in East Greenbush. These workshops are suitable for anyone who can cut paper and use paste. Everyone will leave with a collage – as they define that term, and the happy feeling that creating art brings on.
