New Lebanon Library will present the workshop Chickens from Around the World on Friday, August 10, at 2 pm. This event, which is free and open to the public, is appropriate for children, although patrons of all ages are encouraged to attend.
Lindsay Kuhn of Smoke Ridge Organics Farm will introduce fifteen live, leashed chickens from around the world – speckled Sussex from England, blue Andalusians from Spain, glossy black Sumatras, araucana from South America, cuckoo maran from France and others who lay different colors and sizes of eggs. Participants will learn the history and unique characteristics of these breeds, along with basic animal husbandry skills. Children will be allowed to pet the chickens, too.
