On June 26 BlueShield of Northeastern New York announced the 104 local high school seniors honored as the first Class of BlueShield Scholar Award recipients.
Among the 104 recipients are Kayleigh Corrado, a gradute of Berlin High School and Conor Jordan, a graduate of Hoosac School.
The BlueShield Scholars Program is an annual scholarship program in which local high schools are invited to nominate one deserving senior who has chosen to pursue higher education in the field of health or life sciences. Each recipient is chosen for representing BlueShield’s core values of respect, personal responsibility, excellence, teamwork, passion, and integrity.
“While it is obvious to everyone that young people are our future, we at BlueShield of Northeastern New York recognize the growing importance of their energies and talents in health care as our population ages,” said Brian O’Grady, vice president.
Each recipient receives a scholarship of $250 towards his or her continuing education, a certificate of recognition and a profile published on the BlueShield website at www.bsneny.com.
