Letter to the Editor:
I would first like to commend and thank all the active men and women who are and have served in any branch of the service. Thank You!
I would like to share with the constituents of the 5th Legislative District of Rensselaer County my reason for missing the Memorial Day Parade in Hoosick Falls. I was at my niece’s wedding in Syracuse, which I feel was very important to her and our family. In as much as my brother and brother-in-law are both veterans it was nice to share time with them as well. As an elected official there are many occasions where you have to choose one event over another due to scheduling conflicts. This is, in my memory, the second Memorial Day Parade in Hoosick Falls I’ve missed since being your representative for 15 years.
I would like to also say that we have an Honor a Deceased Veteran ceremony at the Legislature the second Monday of the month at 8:30 am that this legislator rarely misses. Also, one weekend of every month my wife and I watch our grandsons while my step-daughter and son-in-law serve in the Air National Guard in Burlington, VT, where they also serve in the US Air Force during the week. I support our troops and families 100%. God bless each one of you and your families.
Respectfully,
Stan Brownell
Vice Chairman
Rensselaer County Legislator District 5
