William I. Sullivan

Stephentown – William I. Sullivan, 71, of Route 22, Stephentown, NY, passed away on Thursday morning, April 12, 2012, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA.
Born in Princeton, NJ, on April 1, 1941, he was the son of the late William and Mary Shuhart Sullivan. He was the loving husband of the former Linda J. LeClair, whom he married on August 5, 1967. Bill attended New Lebanon Central School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in December of 1960. He was honorably discharged in November of 1964. Bill retired from General Electric after 30 years of service as a steamfitter. He was a member of the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department, the Veterans of the Stephentown Area and the G. E. Quarter-Century Club.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda, two daughters, Kim Buffa and Kelly McGivern, five grandchildren, Mikayla and Earl Buffa and Makenzie, Kassidy and Jillian McGivern, a sister, Claire Brown, two nephews and a niece.
The Sullivan family would like to thank the Renal Unit at Berkshire Medical Center for their extraordinary services and the rehab center for their compassion and encouragement.
There were no calling hours. A Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial was celebrated by Rev. John Close on Monday, April 16, at noon in St. Joseph’s Church, Route 43, Stephentown. Interment with full military honors followed in the Cemetery of the Evergreens in Lebanon Springs, NY.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department’s Rescue Squad in care of Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, P.O. Box 9, Stephentown, NY, 12168.
