The Lady Panther softball team (5 – 1, 3 – 0) made the short trip up Route 22 Tuesday to take on the Cambridge Indians (0 – 3). Rachel Quackenbush threw the thirteenth no hitter of her career. Quackenbush mowed down 16 batters with strikeouts along the way. Only one Cambridge player got on base, with a walk in the fourth inning.
An interesting side note to this no hitter, as opposed to all the others, is that this time Rachel’s sister, Erica Quackenbush, was her catcher. The Lady Panthers won the game 7 – 0. The team hit well, with shortstop Carsen Williams going 3 for 4, with a double and 2 singles. The team plays at home Thursday against Stillwater and Friday against Tamarac. Game time for both contests is 4:15.
