Carolyn R. Godfroy

New Lebanon – Carolyn R. Dahl Godfroy, 75, of Route 22, New Lebanon, NY, died on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at the Providence Care Center of Lenox, MA, after a long illness, under the care of Hospice Care in the Berkshires.
Born September 7, 1936, in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Amanda Robinson Dahl. She was the loving wife of Carl E. Godfroy, whom she married on April 23, 1955, in DesPlaines, IL. She was a graduate of Main Township High School in Niles, IL, and was of the Lutheran faith. Carolyn had been a resident of the New Lebanon area since July of 1956. She worked for many years with her husband Carl and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lou and Betty Godfroy in the operation of Godfroy’s Service Station. Carolyn then worked at Cermaseal in New Lebanon as an inspector, where she retired. She loved horses.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Carl, two sons, John R. Godfroy of New Lebanon and William A. and wife Patricia Godfroy of Niverville, NY, three grandchildren, Sharri, William and Kyle, two great-grandchildren, Marie and Jacob, and many nieces and nephews. Carolyn also leaves behind her faithful canine companion, Babe. She is pre-deceased by siblings, Dorothy Myer and Paul Dahl.
Private graveside services were held in the Cemetery of the Evergreens in Lebanon Springs, NY, where Rev. Trygve Tomlinson officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to the Renal Dialysis Unit at Berkshire Medical Center, 725 North Street, Pittsfield, MA, 01201. Arrangements are under the direction of Hall & Higgins Funeral Home of Stephentown, NY.
