The HFCS girls basketball team’s Cinderella run in the sectionals came to a screeching halt in the second half of the semi-final game against Hoosic Valley on Tuesday evening, February 28. The Panthers, seeded #13 in the WASAREN league, held their own against the #1 seed through the first two quarters. At halftime the score was 24-18, Hoosic Valley. From then on, it was downhill for Hoosick Falls as Hoosic Valley poured on the pressure and wore the valiant HF ladies down. In the second half the Panthers were held to 10 points, while the Indians scored 38, with several three-pointers.
Hoosick Falls, 7-11 at season’s end, fought its way through two playoff games, knocking off the #4 seed, Greenwich, in the opening round and the #5 seed, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, in the quarterfinals to come up against Hoosic Valley in the semi-finals. Not a bad season at all.
