Maddie Teachout of Stephentown, a seventh-grader at New Lebanon Junior/Senior High School, correctly spelled the word ceremonious to win the New Lebanon Central School District’s annual spelling bee.
Teachout will compete in the 30th Annual Capital Region Spelling Bee on Tuesday, February 7, at 5 pm at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady. This is Teachout’s third year representing NLCSD at the Capital Region Spelling Bee. Last year she placed sixth out of 100 talented local spellers. The champion of the Capital Region Spelling Bee will win an all expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete in the 2012 Scripps National Spelling Bee from May 27 to June 1.
