HFCS Bowling Team To Represent Section II In State Finals

On Friday, February 10, the Hoosick Falls bowling team successfully defended its Section II C-D title with a great win at Boulevard Lanes in Schenectady. They won the title in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012 and placed second in 2008 and 2010. They finished with a six-game total of 6,060 pins. Hoosick Falls beat the Class “A” team on Monday and the Class “B” team on Tuesday and now will represent Section II in the State Bowling Tournament on March 3 in Binghamton. [private]Joe Wolfrum, who had the high 6-game total of 1,346 for the tournament Friday, and Josh McCart, who had the second high 6-game total of 1,278, made the individual team, which will compete on March 4 in Binghamton for Section II. Joe Wolfrum made the team as a ninth-grader and last year as a junior. This will be Josh McCart’s first year. He is an eighth-grader. Joe had the second highest triple for the tournament with a 689, and Josh McCart had the second highest game of 257. Other good scores from the Hoosick Falls team were Mitch Andrew 218-1,186, Bryan Callahan 225-1,155, Stephen Surdam (for four games) 227-790 and Mikaela Marbot (for two games) 158-305. Josh Conn was a member of the team but did not bowl.
“This was another great win for our team,” said Coach Lang. “Our bowlers have the right shot and approach to bowl on lanes that are set up different and break down as the match proceeds. Again, we made the right adjustments as the lanes changed. It was another great team effort by everyone. I was a little worried when we had to go up against Fort Edward in the afternoon round because we had beat them in the last two outings during the past two weeks. They are a very good team with some kids who can put up some big scores. But like we had done in the past, we just bowled our own games and didn’t worry how they were bowling. Once again, we made more spares and had fewer splits. Those two things will win you a lot of matches,” said Coach Lang.
