The New Lebanon Library announces the following free events at the Library which is located at 550 State Route 20.
February 10 – Cellist Paul de Jong – 7 pm. Internationally acclaimed cellist of The Books performs contemporary, classical and original pieces accompanied by found video collage.
February 16 – The Rev Tor Solo Show – 7 pm. Rev Tor creates tasty yet infectious grooves and performs a large repertoire of well crafted original tunes and classic rock/folk covers.
February 17 – Community Film Night – 7 pm. Screening of the documentary “Project Nim,” an eye opening account of Nim, the chimpanzee who became the focus of a landmark 1970s experiment to show that an ape could learn to communicate with language if raised and nurtured like a human child. Discussion and Q&A with Elizabeth Hess, author of the book Nim Chimpsky: The Chimp Who Would Be Human, to follow.
February 18 – Chess Instruction for Kids – 10 am. Instruction for kids, but players of all ages and levels are welcome.
February 23 – Workshop: Make Your Own Living Foods – 7 pm; sauerkraut, sprouts, kombucha and much more.
February 24 – Family Movie Night – 6:30 pm. Showing of a current film suitable for the whole family. Call 518-794-8844 for the title. Snacks will be provided.
February 25 – Paws-to-Read – 9 am. Therapy dogs come to the Library, and children read to their furry friends. And, of course, the dogs listen! Please call 518-794-8844 to register.
February 27 – Swap, Not Shop! Jewelry Exchange – 6:30 pm. Bring a bag of gently used jewelry and an empty bag. After the swap, you’ll leave with a bag of “new to you” items.
February 28 – Community Film Night – 6:30 pm. Screening of the documentary “Explore Your Options: Doulas, Birth Centers, and C-Section.” A discussion and Q&A with midwife Michelle Doyle will follow. This event is co-sponsored by Local Care Midwifery PLLC and BirthNet New York.
