Panther Bowlers Keep Rolling

January 13, 2012 By eastwickpress

HF 4           Stillwater 0
The Hoosick Falls bowling team defeated Stillwater on Thursday, January 5, by the score of 4-0. Hoosick Falls had total pins of 3,457, and Stillwater had total pins of 2,770. Hoosick Falls now has a record of 39-1, and Stillwater has a record of 18-18. The top bowler for Stillwater was Charlie Dyer with a 180-523. Top bowlers for Hoosick Falls were Mitch Andrew 228-625, Bryan Callahan 224-606, Stephen Surdam 215-596, Josh Conn 202-585, Joe Wolfrum 214-574 and Josh McCart 225-568. Top JV scores were Jordan Colvin 264-615, Josh Reveal 220-581, Mikaela Marbot 223-558, Charlie Stowell 217-557 and Ken Marbot 195-533.
“We didn’t bowl as well as we did last Tuesday, but we still had some good scores. Mitch and Bryan have been bowling very consistent the last few matches, and Josh Conn bowled well today. Tomorrow we will be bowling in the Schenectady New Year’s Bowling Invitational at Boulevard Bowl in Schenectady where the Section II C-D Tournament is held each year. It is good practice for Sectionals, and we get to bowl against a lot of A and B teams that we don’t usually bowl against,” said Coach Lang.
Panthers Take Second
On Friday, January 6, the Hoosick Falls bowling team participated in the 4th Annual Schenectady New Year’s Bowling Invitational at Boulevard Lanes in Schenectady. Hoosick Falls finished in second place among twenty teams which were mostly A and B schools in Section II. Mohonasen finished in first place with a score of 3,897, Hoosick Falls was second with 3,854 and Columbia finished in third place with 3,836. Scores for Hoosick falls were Mitch Andrew 257-715, Joe Wolfrum 268-672, Stephen Surdam 232-648, Bryan Callahan 236-645, Josh McCart 211-593, Josh Conn (349 for two games) and Mikaela Marbot (232 for one game).
“This was the third time that we bowled in this tournament and it was our best finish. It is great practice to go to the Boulevard Lanes so we can get some practice for Sectionals but to be able to compete with the big schools in our section is a great experience. I hope that this experience will pay off when we have Sectionals there in February. The entire team did a great job adjusting to the lane conditions as the lanes broke down throughout the afternoon. They saved their best game for last as they shot a great total of 1,389 in the last game which placed the team in second place for the tournament,”  Coach Lang said.

Top bowlers for Hoosick Falls were Bryan Callahan 225-647, Joe Wolfrum 227-563, Mitch Andrew 198-561 and Josh McCart 236-560. Top JV scores were Jordan Colvin 243-619, Stephen Surdam 224-568, Mikaela Marbot 220-537, Charlie Stowell 186-523 and Ken Marbot 182-516.
“We didn’t bowl today as well as we have the past few matches. The team struggled with the lane conditions and won the first game by a slim margin but lost the second game by 10 pins. They came back and bowled better the last game and won by 176 pins to secure the point for total pins for the 3-1 victory. The team is going to have to work hard in the next two weeks if we are going to make it back to the league roll-offs against the Northern champion of our league,” Coach Lang said.
