The New Lebanon Library and the Lebanon Valley Business Association will present the award winning documentary film Locally Grown on Thursday, January 12, at 7 pm at the New Lebanon Library.
The film, which focuses on the New Lebanon farmers market, was made by students Isaak van der Meulen and Kelt Wilska. The student filmmakers are locally grown to the New Lebanon area themselves.
Immediately following the film, farmers and others interested in sustainable agriculture, agritourism and local food sourcing are invited to participate in a discussion about these issues. New Lebanon made a big jump forward with the start of the farmer’s market. What should be next for the local economy? How have other towns used local food sourcing as a powerful engine for economic growth?
A group discussion led by farmer’s market manager Cynthia Creech will focus on these questions. Any suggestions about ways in which New Lebanon can pick up on the local food successes of other regions are welcome. Light refreshments will be provided.
This program is free and open to the public. The New Lebanon Library is located at 550 State Route 20, ¼ mile north of the yellow blinking light at the intersection of Routes 20/22.
