Berlin-New Lebanon Swim Teams Swept by Taconic Hills

December 22, 2011 By eastwickpress

by Ryan Mosher
Despite both the boys and girls swim teams falling to Taconic Hills on Tuesday, several swimmers set new personal best in the pool.
The girls team fell 50-37 to the visiting Titans but saw three personal bests on the day. Katarina Lichak swam her top 200 IM in 2:52.84, taking first place against two TH swimmers. Jill Risko did the same in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:26. The 200 Free Relay team took second place, missing first by just one second. The team consists of Adrianna Rizzo, Jill Risko, Kayleigh Corrado and Katarina Lichak.

The boys also fell to Taconic Hills, 44-29. The boys team only has four swimmers, including Rachel Ferris, who

competes with the boys so they can field a complete team. This is no disadvantage for the team though, as she is one of the top swimmers in the league. On Tuesday Ferris won three out of the four races she swam in, and the 200 Medley Relay team missed out on giving her the clean sweep by under one second. Ferris set a new personal best in the breast stroke, finishing in 1:15, beating both of the TH swimmers. She also finished first of four in the 50 Free in :26.33. The 200 Free Relay team took first place in 1:49.4. The relay team consisted of Tristan Southard, Seth Miller, Rachel Ferris and Alex French. French took first place in the 200 IM and the 100 back stroke. Southard took second place in the 100 back stroke.
The team competes again on Friday against Monument Mountain at 4 pm in New Lebanon.
