Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County will present Holiday Workshops on Wednesday, November 9, at Tamarac High School. Three hands-on holiday projects will be offered. Registration for a one-hour workshop is $10 or $5 for enrolled 4-H volunteers. Registration will open at 6:15 pm. Sessions will begin at 6:30 pm
At 6:30 pm you can join in the fun and make “Gifts in a Jar.” Recipe booklet, jar contents and decorating will be the primary focus of this fun class, along with tips on how to teach this project to youth. Simple techniques such as measuring, ingredient selection, safe food handling and presentation will all be incorporated in this hands-on session.
At 7:30 pm you can learn how to make a “Natural Kissing Ball” for the winter holidays. These Natural Kissing Balls will be made with various evergreen species, several types of pinecones and other natural remnants. Participants should bring garden nippers.
You can learn how to make “Holiday Gift Bags” at 6:30 pm or at 7:30 pm. Sewing machines, fabric, cording and patterns will be available for each participant. It would be helpful if participants brought their own fabric shears. In the spirit of the holidays, participants will be asked to make two holiday bags during this program, one to keep and one to donate to the local shelter.
To register for the workshops, please call the 4-H Office at Cornell Cooperative Extension in Rensselaer County, 272-4210. Registration closes November 2.
