Panther Field Hockey Wins Two In OT

October 7, 2011 By eastwickpress

by Steve Bradley
In a week of overtime games, the Lady Panther field hockey team took two extra time victories back to HFCS.
On Sunday, on the beautiful Schuylerville artificial turf field, Hoosick Falls pulled out a 3-2 double overtime victory against a tough Granville squad. Eighth-grader Erika Quackenbush scored two regulation game goals, and Carsen Williams fired in the winning overtime goal.
On Wednesday the team traveled back to Schuylerville to face the Lady Black Horses in a game that didn’t end until long after regulation. In this game, the regulation time score ended at 0-0. After two ten minutes overtime periods during which neither team could push one into the goal, the game went into strokes. Strokes is when five players from each team, one at a time, go against the opposing teams goalie.  When it all ended, Rachel Quackenbush and Carsen Williams had each scored on their attempts, and no Schuylerville players had put one past goalie Frankie Person. The Lady Panthers prevailed in the closely matched contest.
