Local contractors, elected officials and community residents volunteered their time and equipment on September 16 to 18 to replace various sections of the existing concrete sidewalk at the Berlin Elementary School which had become severely deteriorated, creating a serious potential for trips and falls.
The local contractors who came together to complete the project included Steve Goodermote of Steve Goodermote Contracting, David Goodermote of David Goodermote Excavating and Chad Gerstel of CWG Construction. Others who assisted in the project included Aldie Goodermote, Stephentown Highway Superintendent, Walt Weeden and Leonard Nicpon.
“The new concrete sidewalks have greatly enhanced the front main entrance to Berlin Elementary School and now provide a much safer means of egress, thank you,” BCS Superintendent of Schools Dr. Stephen Young said.
