The Great Annual Smoothie Contest

The Rensselaer County Dairy Princess Marilyn Lamb held the annual smoothie making contest at the Schaghticoke Fair on Saturday September 3. There were four teams consisting of local officials and all were assisted by a Rensselaer County Dairy Ambassador.  Marilyn was one of the judges and she was assisted by former Rensselaer County Dairy Princess Amber Lamb, and long time Dairy Farmer and Dairy Princess supported Dottie Requate.  The winners of this year’s contest were Rensselaer County Legislator Stan Brownell and Rensselaer County Dairy Ambassador Abbie Tarbox. Marilyn would like to remind everyone to get their 3 Servings of Dairy Everyday!
This year’s teams were:
Keith Cipperly, Town of Hoosick Supervisor assisted by Rensselaer County Dairy Ambassador Caroline Cipperly
Kathleen Jimino, Rensselaer County Executive assisted by Rensselaer County Dairy Ambassador, Isabella Wiley
Stan Brownell, Rensselaer County Legislator assisted by Rensselaer County Dairy Ambassador Abbie Tarbox
Jack Mahar, Rensselaer County Sherriff assisted by Rensselaer County Dairy Ambassador Olivia Logue

Rensselaer County Legislator Stan Brownell and Dairy Ambassador Abby Tarbox pictured above with Dairy Princess Marilyn Lamb were the winning team of the 2011 Schaghticoke Fair Smoothie Contest, sponsored by the Rensselaer County Dairy Princess. Although competetion was fierce and fun was had by all, Stan and Abby prevailed as winners. This was a wonderful opportunity for the Dairy Princess and her Ambassador's to get their message out: " Remember 3 a day dairy." Photo by Robin Brownell.

The winning recipe for the Tastebud Tingler, named by Abby is:
1 Banana
1 cup sugar
1cup diced peaches
1-16 oz frozen raspberries
1-teaspoon vanilla extract
1-cup plain yogurt
1 cup ice
