The expressions on the faces of the little tykes entering Hoosick Falls Central School on Tuesday, September 6, ranged from pure joy and excitement to trepidation and anxiety. Several tried to hold back tears. Many Moms and Dads were there for support and picture taking. As the youngsters arrived with their parents, or from the school buses, they were greeted by school Superintendent Ken Facin, Business Administrator Pam Hatfield, Elementary School Principal Patrick Dailey and Assistant Principal Amy Netti.
Some of the kindergarten students were fitted with name tags, others sat at tables and colored or played with the boxes of toys in front of them. They were gently immersed into the learning environment. First to fourth grade students settled down quickly to begin the next round of their school careers. Some of the third and fourth grade classes began by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, then reviewing the stacks of books on their desks.
Overall, there was an air of excitement throughout the school. It was a new year, a new beginning for teachers and students. Teachers appeared eager and ready for the upcoming challenges. Their students looked just as eager. It’s a big world out there with so much to learn!
