Hoosick Historical Markers To Be Refinished

August 5, 2011 By eastwickpress

The Hoosick Township Historical Society is having all the historical markers in the Town of Hoosick refinished. The blue and yellow markers are in very poor condition. Bill Boehm of Hoosick is redoing the paint on the signs and poles.

This historical marker was repainted by Bill Boehm as part of the project by the Hoosick Township Historical Society in memory of Ruth Rudd. Photo courtesy of Phil Leonard.

There are more than ten markers and over the next several months they will look like new. The Society is doing this project in memory of Ruth Rudd, a benefactor, who recently died. The Mapletown Church sign is finished to date. The house near the sign was part of the underground railroad system in the 1860s.
