Saturday, September 29, 1855: This forenoon John F. fetched two horse wagon loads pumpkins from the Rogers farm, and this afternoon he went with my horse and wagon onto the Fairbanks lot to see to the sheep and drove them home, 12 of them, and one lost today.
Sunday: John F. went with his two horse wagon to the Baptist Church, Elder Sweet preached, with his two sisters and Eliza and Jane Wylie and Jay Morton rode with him, and this evening John went with my horse and wagon and drove over two yearlings home from the Fairbanks lot.
Tuesday, October 2: Today John F. went to Pittsfield with the two horse team, carried 12½ bushel apples, sold at 40 cts per bushel. He bought a sack of salt for two dol 25 cts.
Wednesday: Quite rainy, John F. unwell, he sold a pig to young Mr. Frances of Pittsfield for 4 dol 25 cts. Edward Hatch repaired our sink, and worked in the shop at wagons.
Thursday: John F. went with his two horse team to Pittsfield and carried his two sisters and Jane Wylie and Mary Hatch to the cattle show.
Friday: I went onto the Rodgers farm and divided potatoes with Patrick Rafferty and he and his brother John went with Geo P. team and drew his potatoes and fetched ours, 25 bushels, and a load pumpkins. Today John F. and Sarah A went in the gig and my horse to Pittsfield to the cattle show. On the way home he fetched the Shakers’ jack to raise up the cider house, and this evening John F. and his two sisters went to Heman Morton’s to an apple bee.
Saturday: John and Edward Hatch worked with the Shakers’ jack at the cider house but did not avail anything, and then Hatch worked in the shop and John F. unwell.
Sunday: John F. went to the Chapel with his two horse team and carried his two sisters and cousin Jay Morton. Tonight I had a hard time of the phisic.
Monday: This forenoon Geo P. went to Lebanon, I sent by him and paid 25 cts for half a pint French Brandy and 25 cts for loaf sugar for medicine for the phisic. This afternoon Geo P. starts to go north into Vermont to look for 18 sheep that were missing out of his drove the other day on the way home. I picked our quinces, 1½ bushels.
Tuesday John F. and Edward Hatch worked at the cider house today a-drwing it together where the beams drew out of the posts.
