Hoosick Grange met on April 13 with Master David Cornell. David conducted the business, and it was time for the Lecturer’s program. Louise Ciuk and Mary Ramancus were in charge of the program. They told about their trip to Ireland. Louise said their trip started in Dublin. They went to Trinity College Library where they saw the Book of Kells. Mary showed us pictures. Next they went to the Guinness Brewery where they make beer. They went to the third story and could see all over Dublin. They went to a pub which was on Grange Road. The pub was called Taylor’s Pub. They had a show, and it was very funny and had some Irish coffee. Mary showed pictures of farms and lots of sheep and remarked how green everything was. They saw the Blarney Stone but didn’t kiss it. Next they visited the Waterford Crystal factory and saw all the beautiful things they make there. They toured the Blarney Woolen Mills and saw all the beautiful hand made woolen clothes. Mary brought home a beautiful woolen hat and scarf set. Next they went to Galway Town which is a college town. They saw the Cliffs of Moher. Their bus driver told them about many things. He had a piece of bog that they make charcoal out of. He told them how they did this. He also told them it’s a crime to dig up. They went to a wax museum where they saw figures of John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. Louise commented on the hotel they stayed in. It was a five star hotel with many beautiful flower gardens. Louise and Mary said they had a wonderful time on their trip.
The Lecturer thanked the ladies for an interesting trip. The Lecturer announced that their next meeting is on April 27. Grangers will meet there at 7 pm. The public is invited to meet there at 8 pm. This meeting is on the underground railroad and the book Freeing Charles. This will be a very interesting meeting as the underground railroad went right through the Town of Hoosick. All are welcome to attend at 8 pm.
