Letter To The Editor – In Support Of DiDonato

March 4, 2011 By eastwickpress

Dear Editor,
I write in support of the candidacy of Ric DiDonato for the Hoosick Falls Board of Trustees.
I have had the pleasure to work closely with Ric as a member of the Hoosic River Greenway Committee since he joined the Committee in 2007. (I’ve been on the Committee since it first convened in May 2005.) He was largely in charge of shepherding the purchase of the abandoned rail parcels by the Village in January 2009. He created the Hoosic River Greenway website (www.hoosicrivergreenway.org). Ric secured the designation of the Greenway as a Waypoint by the Lakes to Locks organization. (L2L promotes visitation and tourism and strengthens local businesses associated with their Waypoints.) He met with representatives of the State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to smooth our way through their grant process (OPRHP administers two $100,000 grants for the Greenway); he met with representatives of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and Army Corps of Engineers to secure permission to route the Greenway over the flood control levee; he has worked closely with our trail designers (their final plans will be made public beginning on Election Day at various venues around the Village), and Ric has helped organize several outings and events designed to increase awareness and use of the Greenway. I urge the voters of Hoosick Falls to return Ric to a well-earned position on the Village Board of Trustees.
Sincerely,
Shelly Stiles, Greenway Committee Member
Buskirk-West Hoosick Road, Hoosick
