After beginning the season with a disappointing loss at home to Sacred Heart, the St. Mary’s Academy girls seventh and eighth grade basketball team has run off six straight victories. The Eagles now stand 6 and 1 at the halfway point in their season following victories over Arlington, Grace Christian, Dorset and Manchester. Coach Donna M. Cuddihy has credited the streak to the incredible determination and teamwork of this year’s squad.
Assistant Coach Kristen B. DelRosario cites unselfish play and dedication in practice as keys to their winning.
This year’s team consists of eighth grade Co-Captains Maeve McAuliffe and Taylor Hayes along with Summer Sutton and Madison Woodley. Seventh grade players consist of McKenzie Bradley and Anna Wysocki. And rounding out the team from sixth grade is Madeline Atherton.
The team will next play Manchester at home on Tuesday, February 8, at 4 pm.
