The Hoosick Falls boys basketball team took to the road for one of their final contests of the year. Playing at Hoosic Valley on their senior night drew a large crowd for the Indians. The brief ceremony before the game didn’t seem to bring the inspiration to the home team, in fact it only seemed to delay the inevitable by five or ten minutes. From the beginning, the Panthers showed who was in charge.

A 20-5 first quarter showed the Indians right away that there would be no going easy on the special night. Hoosic Valley did outscore the Panthers 13-11 in the second but were still down 31-18 at halftime. The third quarter was very similar to the first, with the Panthers shooting well and playing even better defense. After the final horn sounded, Hoosick Falls had won 71-35.
Quinn Rasmus scored 22 points, while Sean Dingman scored 14 and John Hayden scored 10. Every player on the Panther roster scored in the game, a total of eleven players.
Also announced this week were WASAREN League honors. For the third straight year, a Panther player has been named league MVP. Senior Quinn Rasmus was voted Most Valuable Player by the league coaches. Alex Lilac and Tanner Williams were named to the Second Team, and John Hayden and Sean Dingman were Honorable Mentions.
The boys were also given the #1 seed in the Class B Sectionals. They have a first round bye and will take on the winner of the #8 Maple Hill and #9 Taconic Hills game. The Panthers will play their game against one of those opponents on February 26 at 1:30 pm at HVCC.
