Panther Bowlers Win Southern Division; League Championship Match Is On Tuesday

February 4, 2011 By eastwickpress

The Hoosick Falls bowling team won its final regular season match on Monday against Stillwater by the score of 4 – 0.  In doing so, they won the Southern Division of the Adirondack League and will bowl Fort Edward, who won the Northern Division, for the overall championship of the league on Tuesday, February 8, at the Strike Zone Lanes in Saratoga starting at 4 pm.
Hoosick Falls finished the regular season with a record of 46 – 6 and Stillwater finished with a record of 26 – 26.  Hoosick Falls had a total pin count of 3,851 which was their highest total for the year, and Stillwater had a total pin count of 2,934.
Top bowler for Stillwater was Nate Mastripetrio with a 201-574.  Top bowlers for Hoosick Falls were Joe Wolfrum 256-718, Bryan Callahan 247-677, Mitch Andrew 267-652, Chris Pelletier 249-630, Cody LaFlamme 225-615 and Josh McCart 219-592.
There were also some great JV scores – Mikaela Marbot 236-664, Ken Marbot 230-638, James Lynch 226-627, Josh Conn 226-627, Jordan Colvin 209-580 and Charlie Stowell 225-576.  The JV team had an outstanding total pin total of 3,732 which is the best ever in the history of the team.
“This was another great team effort by the entire team. We had some outstanding scores by both the Varsity and JV teams. We are peaking at the right time just before our League Tournament, League Roll-Off and Sectionals. All their hard work and practice games are beginning to pay off. They know that they must keep working hard to bowl well in these upcoming events. I am very proud how this team pulled together as the season progressed. Because we had so many good bowlers, some of them didn’t get to bowl at the Varsity level as many games as they had hoped, but they kept practicing and waited patiently until they were brought up to bowl. I hope that we can keep bowling these great scores for the post season events,”  said Coach Lang.
HF 4           Whitehall 0
In a match on Friday, January 28, the Hoosick Falls bowling team defeated Whitehall by the score of 4 – 0.  It brought the Panthers’ record to 42-6.  Hoosick Falls had a total pin count of 3,535 and Whitehall had a total pin count of 2,097.
Top bowler for Whitehall was Shaun Beebe with a 150-396. Top bowlers for Hoosick Falls were Joe Wolfrum 268-705, Mitch Andrew 279-672, James Lynch 203-600, Josh McCart 224-585, Josh Conn 214-580, Chris Pelletier 210-560, Cody LaFlamme 201-553 and Bryan Callahan 226-502.
“This was the best that we have ever bowled in Whitehall.  Both Joe and Mitch were close to bowling a perfect game.  It was a good team effort and I hope we can keep up the good scores for the upcoming post season matches in the next three weeks,”  said Coach Lang.

Consistent performer Joey Wolfrum rolled a 705 against Whitehall and a 718 against Stillwater to help the Panther bowling team win its last two matches and clinch the Southern Division title. (Bea Peterson file photo)
