Adapt Planning For After-Prom Celebration

February 25, 2011 By eastwickpress

ADAPT (Alcohol Drug Abuse Prevention Team), a committee responsible for planning and hosting a safe, substance-free after-prom celebration for the high school juniors and their guests, is underway with its planning sessions. The committee is looking for HFCS Class of 2012 parents/guardians to join in the planning sessions and fund raising efforts for this event.
The committee began meeting in late January and will have regular meetings every other Tuesday in the HFCS Elementary School library from 6:30 to 8 pm. The next meeting will be held on March 1.
If you’re interested in helping out with the planning or belong to an organization that would like to make a monetary contribution to the activity fund, please attend a meeting, contact Co-Chair Cheryl Downing (518-686-4664), or email hfcs.adapt@gmail.com.
ADAPT Needs Community Support
The 27th Annual Hoosick Falls Central School (HFCS) substance-free after-prom celebration will take place on May 21 and 22 following the 2011 prom. The after-prom event is organized by Class of 2012 parents/guardians and is fully supported by local businesses, organizations, neighbors and friends.
Prom and graduation season – April, May and June – is when a higher percentage of youth under the age of 21 are killed in alcohol  and drug related accidents, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. With monetary donations and contributions of supplies for fund raising events and gifts to be used for prizes from people and organizations in the community, ADAPT will be able to continue the HFCS tradition of providing prom-goers with a safe and fun filled celebration and help reduce unnecessary injury and loss of life!
ADAPT hopes that community members and organizations will consider making a contribution by March 18. Questions about donations of prizes and supplies can be directed to Co-Chairs Cheryl Downing (518-686-4664) and Maggie Middleton (518-686-1599) or by emailing hfcs.adapt@gmail.com. Monetary donations, payable to ADAPT, can be sent c/o Laurie Gormley, Treasurer, 4 Estabrook Avenue, Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090.
